    Hints

  • Decryption Check: Encrypted Note (Red Writing)

Decrypt the note and type the sixth word below to check if you decrypted it correctly.

  • Hints: Encrypted Note (Red Writing)

    Hint 1

    Examine the playing cards photograph.

    Hint 2

The playing cards photograph shows four cards have letters written on them. These four cards are either heart or diamond cards. No spade or club cards have letters written on them.

In a deck of cards, there are 13 heart cards and 13 diamond cards. There are 26 letters in the alphabet.

    Hint 3

Each heart and diamond card maps to a different letter in the alphabet. The playing cards photograph shows you what four cards map to:

    • Ace of hearts maps to the letter A
    • Two of diamonds maps to the letter D
    • Six of hearts maps to the letter K
    • Queen of diamonds maps the letter X

From these four cards, you can figure out the pattern of what card maps to what letter.

    Hint 4

Ace of hearts maps to A, ace of diamonds maps to B, and 2 of hearts maps to C.

    Solution

This note can be decrypted by referencing the playing cards photograph. This photograph shows that different heart and diamond cards map to different letters in the alphabet.

Start by mapping ace of hearts to the letter A, then map the next letter of the alphabet to the first diamond card (i.e. ace of diamonds). Alternate between hearts and diamonds to map the rest of the alphabet (i.e. 2 of hearts maps to C, 2 of diamonds maps to D, 3 of hearts maps to E, 3 of diamonds maps to F etc.)

    Decrypted, the note reads:

HES A LIAR AND A BACKSTABBER. WONT OWN UP. ILL MAKE HIM FEEL AS HELPLESS AS HE MADE ME.
